Mastodon devs are exploring a "Home feed digest" and "Localized hashtag trends". There's no description, but a "digest" *should* let you sort your timeline by stuff like boosts and replies, while localized trends are what you see in the Explore tab but only for posts by people in your instance. Currently trends are made from all the posts an instance knows about and tend to mirror the larger servers https://observablehq.com/@mauforonda/mastodon-hashtags

I'm using clickhouse's great interface for the gh archive ( https://play.clickhouse.com/play?user=play ) documented yesterday by @simon at https://til.simonwillison.net/clickhouse/github-explorer .

The wild thing is it gets updated every 10 minutes so you can come back to these plots in a year and, if their service stays up, see new patterns.
