Just got back from 10 days in Europe. Was a really needed getaway. Flight back was great but our Global Entry agent was definitely grilling the brown folk and just waving through the non-POC.

I admit I have not read any news whatsoever (positive thing IMO). Probably won’t catch up till tomorrow, just relaxing at the moment. Hopefully haven’t missed too much.

Will try to post some best-of pics on my timeline in the next few days. Good to be home!

On the train to Geneva after 3 days in Lyon. Lyon was such a breath of fresh air after the busyness of Paris! We explored the old parts of the city, the chapels, the murals, shops and had plenty of time to sit down at multiple little cafes and bars. Definitely a relaxing time. Glad we decided to try it out!

Enjoyed my comfy train from Amsterdam yesterday to Paris to rendezvous with my fiancee. Did an absolute rushed drive around Paris with a stop at the Louvre, Notre Dame and a champagne at the top of the Eiffel Tower! Closed it off with a traditional wine and beef bourguignon dinner.

Amsterdam is so amazingly walkable. I’ve clocked almost 64K steps in just the first 2 days!!! 😳. Did all the fun stuff: canal boat ride, Heineken, museums, checked out the markets, walked Red Light District at night, drank lots of beer, had enough stroopwafels!! So many bikes!!! 🚲 Doing a little exploring and some shopping today. Leaving early tomorrow for Paris. Excited to take my first train ride in Europe!

I overslept by 15min today and instead of making in to the office around 8ish, I made it after 8:15. I don’t have a set time I’m supposed to be at work, so that isn’t a big deal.

The curious thing however was I noticed slightly less traffic and little to no speeding and aggressive drivers this morning. It’s probably a coincidence but makes me think shifting 15min is worth a more peaceful drive. 🤔

We tried out the new Asian fusion spot “Tabe” last night (.. formerly Jim Brady’s .. formerly Vellum). Service was very good and entrees recommended by the staff were excellent! Didn’t try sushi. Only minor nitpick was their whiskey pricing was incredibly weird. Overall positively recommended!

The openai web bot has been making all sorts of weird data requests to one of our json endpoints. They look like an inexperienced developer with short-term memory loss is just guessing parameter names and values. Even if the bot got "smart" enough to use the right parameters with some acceptable inputs, the results would have minimal usefulness since the data dictionary we use is so large and complex. 🤨

Feeling overwhelmed with the state of the country and world and in some ways a bit guilty that I have a good support system and I can weather the storm. Things for me are personally going well, but lately I haven't felt the desire to tell anyone. I do see people's struggles/difficulties and wish them strength/courage.

I'm always happy to see many people post so many positive and helpful things here. Will try to re-engage!

Had a deep cut/split on my thumb on my right hand. Wouldn’t seal no matter what and kept annoying me with anything I did with my thumb....

Had a deep cut/split on my thumb on my right hand. Wouldn’t seal no matter what and kept annoying me with anything I did with my thumb. Finally gave in and superglued it last night! Best decision ever! The only side effect right now is that certain thumb gestures on my phone aren’t detected properly.

Note: this was household glue and nothing medical. I don’t recommend doing this but worked for me!
