1. Is there a general theory of social groups (nations, religious communities, political parties...). Do we need a separate theory for each group, or it is possible to create a general theory?
2. Is the reversal of the trend of declining homophobia possible? Societies are becoming more tolerant towards gay persons. Should we be worried that this is temporary? What can cause such a reversal and what can prevent it?

* greeted a bookseller,
* asked if they had Ukrainian classics, esp. Executed Renaissance,
* gave my email for additional info,
* asked about the price of the book I liked & if they accept card payments,
* expressed sadness by the fact that they did not, and told I had no cash,
* thanked him for his solution: I take the book and follow the emailed instructions,
* said goodbye

Please consider this next time your referee complains about a "wrong sign" on your control variables.

I will now report a follow-up.
A pile-on ensued where hundreds of people rage-quote-retweeted and rage-commented about how dare he say that all engineers are baddies.
Eventually, Sam had to disable comments.
I hope he joins the elephant site soon enough.

Given that Americans generally favour Democrats' policies (70% for gun control, 61% for legal abortion etc.), why Republicans are so successful electorally?
Several possible explanations:
* R's are just better campaigners,
* R's successfully weaponise racial resentment,
* D's focus too much on "identity politics",
* It's all about gerrymandering/turnout suppression.
Do any of these explain the phenomenon fully? Other explanations?

Mykolaiv is a city in Southern Ukraine -- very close to the frontline -- which is regularly attacked by Russian missiles.
A small volunteer group is helping people in Mykolaiv survive the war.
Their fundraising goals are usually modest -- so even a small donation will make a difference.
You can find their info on how to help here: https://quicknote.io/3a0180e0-f601-11ec-83a4-43327db391cd
Please consider donating.

He has studied all cases of democratisation since year 1800 and argues that in 2/3 of them a transition to democracy happened because autocratic rulers were kinda clueless and let the genie out of the bottle by mistake, trying to achieve something else entirely.

Regular producers of polarising rage-inducing "hot takes" will not see the interaction numbers they are used to even if the whole bird site migrates here.
