I wonder if the time has come to send my Xiaomi Mop Pro vacuum cleaner to /dev/null.

Even after replacing its battery, it seems to have developed signs of dementia / alzheimer illness, including stopping in the middle of the room for no reason, forgetting to get back to its docking station (or returning to it but with an offset).

Factory reset, Wi-Fi reset, and removal / addition into the app does not seem to do any good.

In another tech rant, I've tried today to see if a couple budgeting apps would work better than my actual budgeting spreadsheet, and it was yet another disappointment.

I'm far from done on this topic yet (and actually may be using AI to review my current mega-spreadsheet & mechanics), but found the apps work best for people who are just getting started. It might become a post.

I barely use Siri because it seems devoid of any intelligence, and today proved it again. Three single tasks (add three items to tasks, and create a time reminder) resulted in a 25% success rate (one out of three tasks worked).

I speak to Siri in French, and French is also my system locale. In contrast, dictating anything to ChatGPT in any language (I've done so in English, French, and perhaps Czech so far) yields very good results.

I need to explore workflow possibilities there. Or maybe wait for Apple "Intelligence".

So we basically work with the yearly budget sheet (planned ahead at the beginning of the year, with each month detailed, a list of all planned expenses, regular or exceptional - provisions for taxes etc.), we reconcile with the monthly financial report, and we learn lessons about what we could have done better.

I like the detailed view of income, expenses (splitting in regular expenses, unplanned / exceptional, and other expenses), plus the reconciliation of income / expenses vs. balance on the acct at the end of the month. Eye opening.

I don't have a RAG sheet yet (with report on savings accts and debt repayment) but I do have some nice highlights / lowlights slides w/ lessons learned.

I'm probably totally nuts :)
