I got myself a Mari Lwyd and she arrived yesterday! Y Fari Lwyd (The Grey Mare) is a folk tradition in South Wales where a horse's skull, decorated with ribbons, is attached to a pole and carried from house to house where they'd sing a song in Welsh requesting they be let in. Whoever answered the door would sing a song in return, denying them entry. This pwnco would keep going until Mari Lwyd was either invited in and given food and drink, or moved on to the next house.

The game I've been working on with SIGN is now available to play! Play Your Way Into Production is designed to help new entrants understand the tasks and duties of certain job roles in the screen industry and develop skills which are traditionally gained through (unpaid) work experience. Set in a film/TV studio players are given a number of tasks to complete and scenarios to navigate that reflect some of those they might encounter when working in the industry.

The artists are Emily Alice and Rich McCann, currently working out of Pleasure or Pain Productions in Aberdare but hopefully soon to have their own studio in Pontypridd.

This has been something I've wanted to do since I was a teenager and to have the book come out after PhileFest, which was the best weekend, spent with the people responsible for the show and fellow fans who love it, is incredible.

Day three of PhileFest, and the 30th anniversary of The X-Files, done. What a weekend! Each day has surpassed the last and I can't believe I've been here. Today I met James Wong and had him sign my book, go to a panel with James and Glenn and Darin Morgan, go for lunch with Chris and Frank and watch the premiere of the X-Files Fan documentary. I've laughed, I've cried, I've made new friends and all because a show about two FBI agents investigating the paranormal premiered on 10 September 1993.

Day two of #PhileFest consisted of seeing a couple of panels, including the creatives one with writers, directors and producers, getting more autographs in my book, selling out of my book (!) and seeing Dean Haglund's comedy show. I thought yesterday was amazing but today might have topped it.

So PhileFest day one has been the best day ever! I've nearly sold out of the book! I chatted to Frank Spotnitz, Glen Morgan, Annabeth Gish and Rebecca Toolan (among others), all of whom were absolutely lovely and complimentary about the book. I've spoken to loads of fans and seen friends I haven't seen in years as well. So happy!
