I look forward to supporting HHMI scientists in this new role as our team seeks to make research findings more accessible, provide scientists with tools and resources, and think creatively about what the future of scientific publishing and communication might look like.

Scientists are here, we’re doing good work, and we’re going to keep doing it.

In a time that has been challenging for science, I've found it helpful to focus on doing the best work I can to move science forward. On that note, I'm happy to share that I've started a new position as the first Strategy Program Coordinator at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI)!

Thanks to Women in Neuroscience for inviting me to speak with their network of students yesterday! I had a great time sharing how I've made connections across my professional journey, from combining research areas to making a real-world impact with my science. What a great community and resource for students looking for inclusive training in Texas! Learn more: neurowomen.org/

I'm excited to share a new publication from my graduate work!

In this opinion piece, we describe a new idea about how the brain represents more than one object - by having neurons switch their activity over time. This new idea has implications across a wide range of other areas of neuroscience, including how parts of objects come together to form a whole, and how we select what to pay attention to in busy environments.

I’m excited to share our new paper exploring how several visual brain areas respond to multiple objects! We found that neurons in a variety of visual areas use a fluctuating activity pattern to preserve information about objects, especially when the objects can be distinguished from one another or when they compete for the same neural resources. I’m excited to have the story out as a supplement to my primary PhD work!
