Heyo everyone! I am working on my indie factory game and have gotten to the point where I am looking to #FediHire an #artist.
The game is a pseudo 3d high(er) resolution sprite based game with an optimistic solar punk aesthetic.
I have a bias for artists who use #OpenSource tooling but that is no hard requirement.
If anyone is interested let me know. As I am a first time game dev (although with lots of non-game dev experience) I would ba happy to work with new or veteran artists.

Before my 11th gen #Framework used like 4w of power with WiFi with a dim screen. Now it uses 2.7w.
The difference is like 10h vs 4h.

Funny thing is that tariffs can be a good economic strategy if the policy maker has a stable hand.
Like if the policy maker says “we will have a 30% tariff on chips for at least 10 years” companies can use that to invest in new plants knowing they have that 30% advantage for those 10 years.
If the policy maker flops like a fish on tariffs no company can act on that. You get all the downsides with none of the upsides.

I’m talking setting up a CA and everything for TLS interception.
If I didn’t live here I would suspect they routed the tracks to optimize for poor cellular reception, but sadly I know better.

It’s cool but using it just makes it easier for mega corps to lock down things even more. Yah #rust / #rustlang is faster and more secure, but #GPL is better for society.
If we were using uutils in 2005 we wouldn’t have the free routers that we have now. I don’t want to think what could be lost if we just drop all things #GPL for mit license stuff. It’s just helping megacorps at societies expense.

Yah the faster compile times are nice, but the increased responsiveness of the lsp/rust-analyze is GAME CHANGING.
With my old CPU or on my laptop the lsp is ok. Like a couple hundred ms response time for most things. On my new CPU it’s all instant. It feels amazing and was 100% worth the upgrade.

In other news I suddenly see why people would choose cone topped soldering irons over chisel.

Works wonderfully on Fedora out of the box and after a bit of driver installation it worked well on windows. The games I do play all run on Ultra and it’s really nice to have the accelerators on Linux. If they survive I totally would buy a future high end discrete Intel GPU.

In the past I was a traveling consultant and flew to a new city every week. These days I fly between the EU and US a few times a year.
Neve have I had such a terrible experience as I am having with Air Canada. Long story short, they dropped my destination city and refuse to fix it. They refuse to allow me to change my origin city and they refuse to allow me to change my destination city to a nearby one that still is on service just because it's "a bit too far".

Like I read the book and know you annotate functions, but I can’t seem to actually apply that understanding. The code I write has minimal cloning and I pass a lot off stuff around by reference. I mostly find that I don’t “need” to use lifetimes.
The exception is working on or passing around struct values. Once in a while I find myself cloning those values. Is this a lifetimes use case? What am I missing here?
