After spending quite a bit of time rotating passwords after the LastPass breach it is interesting to see how much variety there is in how different sites handle it. There are way too many sites that enforce arbitrary restrictions on allowed characters or maximum length. Also, sites seem to love to bury the change option deep in the UI where it is hard to find.

Seeing these articles comparing Instagram notes to AIM has got me thinking. While I haven't used the new feature, I can related to the nostalgia people seem to be having for AIM.

Yes the newer technology is great, but in the past if I saw someone on AIM I knew they were around, and most likely open to chatting. Now I never know if they are available or busy. I tend to think much more about when I send messages knowing it will likely send a notification direct to their pocket.
