Similarly I'd like an I/O card with two IDE ports, because my current one only has a single which means I have to use a specific Vibra 16 sound card from my collection, because it's the only one with an IDE controller on it for the CD drive. It's not a bad card, but I'd like to be able to try some others.

Again, VLB cards like this are getting thin on the ground too, because 486 boards started shipping with all that stuff integrated before too long.

It's an inconvenient moment in time to try to recreate!

Main thing is the video card. It's a Cirrus Logic card and it's ... fine. I can't recall how good it got in the VLB era though. It's got some unpopulated RAM sockets but I don't think that'd give me much benefit. I have a vague memory of preferring Trident cards in those days, but it seemed like we started getting PCI slots on 486 boards pretty rapidly and that became a better option.

Did any really good VLB video cards exist?
