Massive new feature launch today at work, very exciting and I’m very proud to have helped with the reporting/backend side of this.
On the other hand, not looking forward to the 4 additional weeks of work that gets generated by individuals who have been in every single meeting with me for the last few months and have suddenly now decided it’s time for feedback, tweaks, and what essentially amounts to a deposition in regards to the entire product and system.
That’s showbiz in analytics, baby!

I do not want to function as the indirect QA/QC clean-up Zamboni for data products and pipelines.
I want to move with intention, collaboration, certainty. Building a culture of getting it right as opposed to ship now, fix later. That is what builds trust. It doesn’t have to be perfect, but it shouldn’t be duct-taped together for the sake of hitting a deadline.

I think it’s clear from the recent massive boom of data quality and observability tools, our industry is shifting priorities from “build predictive models fast and deploy them” to “let’s focus on the fundamentals, and get them right”.
There’s a multiplicative factor of impact for the latter.

This is not a new take, we are an ouroboros.

Just ruminating this morning as I reflect on how we define “impact” in our contributions

You're in the top 0.1% listeners for Led Zeppelin at 5,000 minutes this year. How would you go about approximating how many minutes an average Led Zeppelin user listens in a year?
