An interesting ML repo went out, seems a few small things needed attention, a guy tried to fix a missing requirement in requirements.txt but fluffs the syntax...

Now there are *seven* PRs where people also tried to be helpful and fix it but not one of them checked before doing their one liner fix and PR 😆

Obviously no big deal but amused me it got to that number

Goodness, UPS have a terrible mix of overly rigid process combined with overly sloppy staff, meaning they've failed to leave the information that the website requires before I can proceed with rescheduling to avoid a second failed delivery!

Weirdly I couldn't reschedule prior to the first attempt, even though I knew I would be out then too, so my fragile item will be needlessly carted about for at least three delivery attempts and at this rate maybe more! 😮

Witnessed two others have issues and then experienced it first hand: the headset button goes on/off but doesn't change the mic's status 😮

It's not such a "trick" nor a secret, but to keep it a "happy place" I've made fairly ruthless use of filters and blocked a bunch of stuff that I keep out, be it because it's likely to annoy me or simply distract me in the wrong way... Many of the things I block are totally legitimate real world issues, I just block to keep things focused here. It works for me!

Luckily I still enjoy disappearing down tech rabbit holes 🐇 just fewer of the unhealthy non-tech rabbit holes that X tempted me with! 🙂

I've been on Mastodon for 424 days, can't believe it's that long! Joined on 5th November 2022, after a nudge from a fairly non-techie friend.

Whilst things haven't been uniformly perfect it's now at a point I'm really grateful for it - I'm still ducking into X periodically as I've yet to ditch the news addiction completely but Mastodon is very much my "happy place" and it's working out well 🎉

but neglects to notice I never ordered ever again in the 5½ years since, due to a serious complaint that they gave me the run around with, showed they had no clue about shipping (trying to fob me off with contacting the wrong courier who didn't even deliver to the UK!) and eventually led to a claim under UK credit card protection laws...

Is that the kind of vivid memories they meant?! 😆

MFA with Authenticator basically worked fine for a few years: you trigger something and it effectively says "was this you?"

Now though they're firing off arbitrary sign in requests from their many apps without being sure you notice, so the whole "was this you?" breaks down
