I keep thinking about how bad WWDC2024 was. As an Apple dev, what was the value of it to me? The headline features aren’t things I could use in an app, even today.
I kind feel that 2023 was also a bust, but at least Vision Pro actually shipped. I _could_ have used those features and products if I have chosen to, but I did not. 2023 was way less bad than 2024.

9.3.2025 09:15I need to tweak it some, but yes!Maybe this will work for letting me mount a servo on top of the U-Joint? I think it will. I have a plastic one printing now. (But will use sheet metal for the real thing.)

And plus! All of the parts can be made out of metal cheaply.

1.3.2025 23:18Yay, my new I2C EEPROM programmer works great! (Made with parts I had on hand, too, other than the PCB I quickly tossed together.)This morning I’m thinking about when I was a Christian and grew up hearing about “government persecution of Christians” in the US. None of it was true.
I’m comparing that in my head to what the US government is ACTUALLY doing right now to trans folks. No wonder they don’t get it.

The wax filter was really impacted. The doc was able to get it clean, and I bought a bunch more filters. (I ran out a few months ago and didn’t get more! Shame on me!)

26.2.2025 17:59I'm having this kind of dayAhhh this might work? A spring to hold the bird upright, and a small servo that pushes against it to lean forward! This is so much more simple than how I do it now 🤔

I'm used to working with plastic, where the tolerances are "meh, whatever," but metal isn't nearly as forgiving.
If I did this right, it can be used to mount the head on one of my birds. The hole in the middle is for a standard micro servo, which I use for the beak.

Cost (a lot) more, but I feel good supporting small businesses that also support the FIRST Robotics programs for school!

This is a new setup for the head, I think. The middle servo controls the beak.
My goal is to make a bird so durable I can just toss it into my suitcase for a con, rather than having to stress over the plastic bits inside like I do now.

I've been venturing into the world of using I2C EEPROMs to configure things, so I made my own I2C programmer. It uses a shell when you plug it into a USB port on your computer. Very straight forward (for me, at least).
I create the bin file with the Mac app, and then flash it with the programmer! (VID 0x2E8A is one set aside for non-commerical Pi Pico projects.)
The 40 pin DIP is where a ZIF socket will go. I used the IC in the design only for the hole spacing.
