In my cosmology the chances that you could go back to the same universe twice are infinitesimal- it's now a different branch, so no butterfly effect for you.
However, like Steins; Gate, there's an organization like SERN that tightly controls time travel, and they don't want you messing with the past (maybe on moral grounds). It's hyper-expensive, and they maintain their monopoly by any means necessary.
So you need a huge research grant or other source of funds, convince them it's a worthy project, and they're strict on maintaining a low profile.

There are some retro #Anime groups on FB, and occasionally someone will be trying to find the title to a series they watched as a kid. They'll give a vague description of barely-remembered details, and members try to guess what it was, posting screenshots until they find it.

Sometimes I'm tempted to make up a wacky shonen premise just to have people scratch their heads. Or maybe the joke will be on me and they made that anime?

You know- that show where the kid is searching Japan for his lost brother, and fires off nonlethal mochi balls from a staff sling to defeat evil.

" Each of these four stories is well-written with different settings, types of characters & relations, monsters, and moods/tones. Neighbors are trying to mind their own business in the title story. A small, loving family is trying to hold it together in "A Delicate Condition". People are playing cruel games in "Sundown Town", and they're not all on the same page about just what the games are. "Fowl Fiends of the Great Black Swamp" warns us a little about massive agri-business along with the titled horror. I'll look up more by each of these authors."

I tend to write stories where the main character(s) accidentally get into a situation where the baddies misinterpret their every oblivious action as a masterful countermove until the final conflict.

A bit like film noir, but with humor and a generally happy ending.
