A little late to the party but here's my #introduction to #gischat.

I have a bachelor in physics and a PhD in Geospatial Information Science.

I have some sort of a mixed bag of interests:

I do a lot of work on spatial analysis of crime, a little on the classical econometrical side

I also work on algorithms to build areal support from spatio-temporal point databases

I also have a background in urban pollution modeling which is recently taking a front seat in my research agenda

Well, I can report that everything went relatively smoothly and I have a fully functional geospatial workstation running on Arch

Hi #gischat people! For several reasons I’m dropping Ubuntu as my desktop distro. I’m thinking of going full nerd and use Arch from now on, it seems to have good support for my everyday needs (qgis, postgis, R and Python), I wonder if anyone here has experience using Arch for geospatial stuff and knows of some caveats I’ll be running into.
