So recently, I decided to start collecting them, and here is my current collection, ranging from IV to IX, including the Underworld and Ultima Online offshoots.
Thought to share for anyone who might appreciate this!

Amazingly, they matched the game world with a highly accurate level of detail, and I would use them while playing.
It's no surprise I became a geographer and mapmaker later in life 🗺️

When I was young, one of my favorite PC game series was Ultima by

. I loved the world-building and philosophical aspects, and I actually learned a lot of English from playing them.
And then there were the maps; both in-game, and these physical copies.

Should we be worried about storing potentially sensitive place data on Meta servers, though?

To facilitate doing this for others' benefit, I made a quick webpage to convert your Google Maps GeoJSON data to GPX and KMZ files that render well in Organic Maps.

24.8.2024 14:53Waking up in the redwoods 🌲: an early morning at DWeb Camp 2024. #dwebcamp @dwebI was really impressed by the long-term (15+ years!) methodologies for territorial management being developed and implemented for this critically important region in the northern Brazilian Amazon, and the inspiring leadership of the caciques and the Indigenous organization APITIKATXI. I left invigorated with new ideas to improve our ecosystem of tools, to better serve the mission here and elsewhere.

During this first week out of three, we covered a number of digital tools for mapping, monitoring, documenting cultural heritage, and data management.

While this tool is oriented to OSM mapping workflows, it's self-hostable, and the overall functionality (and specific components like the modal to generate offline tiles) can be useful for many of us.

Because of this aspect of permanent digital data, it’s our job to consistently ask questions like: "What happens in the future? Where does it go? How do you want it to behave? 20 years from now, 100 years from now? We don’t want this information to become a weapon against you."
