Apple Mail considers that the canonical record of your email remains on the Gmail servers. Apple Mail will download data that it thinks will help perform searches and other operations faster, but disconnect from the internet and you will soon discover big gaps in what is actually on your local computer.

By contrast, the Takeout download is a point-in-time snapshot, that is complete and disconnected from anything that may happen on the Gmail server in the future.

Photographs live their own life, parallel but apart from their subjects. Like their human subject they wrinkle over time, can spot and fade! A photograph can live on after it's subject so long as the person is remembered. When the subject is forgotten, a photo enters it's limbo. We can know it was precious once but no longer know why. That is what I am thinking about when I see this photo.

This morning I got to thinking that the proper response to #Trump is to ignore his words. Do not repeat them, nor attempt to refute them....

This morning I got to thinking that the proper response to #Trump is to ignore his words. Do not repeat them, nor attempt to refute them. Observe what he is _doing_. Critique and/or condemn _that_.

Queensland used to have a Premier called Jo Bjelke-Petersen. He referred to his regular press-conferences as "feeding the chooks". Trump's approach to the media is not new, (even though it is obviously completely new to the members of the Washington press corp). Forty years ago a parochial, primary/elementary-educatation-only peanut farmer knew that if you give reporters something to talk about, they will talk about _that_ rather than talk about what you are _doing_.

When we repeat Trump's words even when only to disprove his arguments, we are devoting precious brain-space to proving that Trump is a shameless liar. Now that Trump has won the election, the next four years are going to be shaped by what Trump _does_ not what he _says_. #JonStewart #StephenColbert -- if I could ask you to explain _that_ to us, I'd be more grateful. Sure, I love to laugh, but I'm sick at laughing at Trump. I think he wants me to laugh at him.

Anyway, that was just a thought this morning…
