Very sad to see #BBCSounds will be discontinued outside the #UK. The replacement page is awful, and if current content is accurate, the new site will only have podcasts, World Service, and Radio 4. No more classical music from Radio 3 and no more #folk programs from local affiliates. I understand the need to serve the local population but Sounds is one app I would gladly pay a subscription for.

Still on my epic quest to settle on a new #email service. I've tested out both @fastmail and @mailbox_org and it seems to me that, aside from concerns about #privacy and jurisdiction, both work about the same except one works smoother and is prettier (#Fastmail) and the other is slower and less pleasing to the eye (#Mailbox.org) - does this sound about right? In the end, if you use them on something like @thunderbird , are you really going to notice a difference?

Now I'm trying to find a general #email replacement. I think I've narrowed it down to @fastmail and @mailbox_org. I also like @startmail but it has no calendar.

#Fastmail seems to just work well and has practically unlimited aliases accounts. But MB seems more committed to #privacy / data protection, has online office, and is about half the price per month of the other. Both have some cloud storage, which is a plus.

I'm not really sure which one to go with. Any thoughts?

Looked at @protonprivacy and @Tutanota and while their privacy credentials are impeccable, I felt there were too many usability compromises. I think I've settled on #Posteo as my secure #email. It's from #Germany, strongly committed to #privacy, VERY reasonably priced (€1 / month), can be used with @thunderbird, and the company is one of the most ecologically conscious companies I've seen. Worth exploring!

Planned on using #Mailfence but they won't let me register. I was thinking of going with @startmail or @fastmail as a general secure inbox. Any thoughts or experiences with them? A third option is to do Mail Plus with #Proton and have just one box. Wanted to keep costs lower ($5 or below). Doing this as part @cyberlyra's Cyber Cleanse!

Our community is a bit unique in that at our 11am service, individual parishioners write the prayers of the people. Each week it is different depending on the intercessor but still reflects the structure within the Book of Common Prayer.

The story follows a priest investigating the death of a heretical priest in a medieval world. Or is it? Something is a bit off with this place.

Verdict: The twist comes early and is really fun. Plays with common assumptions about the Medieval world. Not sure how twist be sustained through a whole novel. Will finish eventually.

"On Tyranny: Twenty Lessons from the Twentieth Century" by Timothy Snyder

Yale historian of Eastern Europe notes 20 lessons to learn from his study of totalitrian regimes for today. Written in 2017, it hits a bit harder in 2025. Reading it today for no particular reason.

Verdict: Snyder comes off as very self-assured, which may turn off some people. But the lessons are timely and still worth learning.

I explicitly did not put a content warning on this. It does touch upon #USPol but I felt its central point is the #Christian witness practiced by the Cathedral. A border-line case for a CW but I felt that it was worth reading, even for those outside of the US. Apologies to my non-US friends if they are a bit annoyed by this. But I felt compelled from my heart to share something about a group of people I care very deeply about.

IDK that they have Matthew Shepherd's ashes. His parents were concerned that no matter where is grave was, it would be desecrated by the Westboro Baptist Church. The Cathedral volunteered to keep them safe.
