It doesn't remind me
Specifically of you,
But of the ugly things
People will do.

Why did it matter,
That you were not there?

I moved on without you
As I was stripped bare.

You could be alive still
But I'll never know.

Or dead in the ground
With a pauper stone.

Can't imagine what pain
You must have been in,
To leave us all behind
Like dust in the wind.

Hope you found solace
In this life, if not the next.
And your weights are released
Before your next quest.

Yearn to feel the sunlight
Warm upon my skin
Feel the soft stroke of your caress
On the length of my nude limbs
Feel you right beside me
The splendor that it brings
Embraced by your presence
As our heart sings

I've been here many times before
And many times again

It doesn't make sense to push away something that feels so right
Eternal, a love that's considered sin

Because of situations, I can't let you in
Social constructs don't allow those like us to ever win

We are determined by decisions
We made when we were kids
Need to transcend the pain
The pain of all that is
