@caseyliss I'm using Zigbee devices. It is supposedly similar - you need a coordinator (may be a USB dongle), add-on (Zigbee2MQTT - similar to ZWave2JS I guess), but the devices are a LOT cheaper. It's probably a bit hard to start, but adding new devices is probably easier once you've done it once.

@atpfm laktak.github.io/chkbit/. And ZFS can scrub (scan and repair if possible) your FS, and it is advised to run periodically (I’m running it monthly). Because Apple SSDs are so damn expensive I actually keep most of my data on my ZFS-backed TrueNAS installation and that keeps me safe ;)

@atpfm Most of the „custom rf” things (that have multi year battery life) you’re talking about are probably just Zigbee (which is using same frequencies as 2.4 Wi-Fi). The vendors are usually locking in their hubs to only recognise their devices, but they usually work with @homeassistant using different Zigbee coordinators (like Conbee)

@rkaramandi I am actually running a 3 node Proxmox VE cluster with Home Assistant OS (and a LOT of other things) on it. I have 3 nodes - one is a low power mini PC, two others are pretty beefy (12 and 6 core Ryzens with 128 and 64 GB RAM). HA is one of the VMs that is set up in High Availability so it migrates between hosts when it needs to. My way of setting it up was a bit more simple: tteck.github.io/Proxmox/ :)
