Tough day, time for another weekend offline 👋
14.3.2025 23:08Tough day, time for another weekend offline 👋Personal highlight of the day: I finally have a compact Swiss Army knife to replace the bulky multi-tool I carried with me (and lost).
I love that it has many handy tools for real life problems in such a low profile tool.
And I love that it doesn’t have the “manly man” or “prepper” energy

But the EU has ASML, the company that produces the machines that produce the most advanced chips.
Digital Sovereignty is not chips totalitarianism. It's about having the right amount of mutual dependency with partners, and plans B.

And then, I saw that person. Can you spot her?

It was sunny, it was full of joy. We've bumped into three fanfares and some street dancing, we've seen people playing chess, people playing boules, children on swings.
We've seen people together and happy.
I love public spaces.

I can't express how sad I am to see experts I want to follow let their information die on LinkedIn, but I can't blame them for not wanting to set up (and pay for) their own site or blog.
It's ridiculously difficult to browse old posts on LinkedIn. It's all about "now." Yesterday doesn't exist there.

5.3.2025 20:44Crap I'm really bad at short blog posts, they always turn out to be walls of text.I’ve been mulling over this for a few days. Mike Masnick says it more eloquently about journalism, but the same applies to all tech nonprofits.
You can’t trust nonprofits that avoid “polarization” or “political” topics for the sake of a neutrality that never existed.
The time when “neutrality” meant “things don’t change” is over.

Friction is a friend, not an enemy.
I do welcome feedback about my posts. I even actively look for it before publishing.
But not all feedback is equal. A snarky comment on reddit can be cheap and demoralizing. A thoughtful email can bring me a new perspective.
Friction to comment is actually a good thing.

But the current American administration is going wild.
We have everything at our disposal to make an international, transparent operating system that respects people's rights, and it wouldn't make a dent in the EU's budget.
