@BGO how is the #weather, buddy? We've had, like, a million days of cloudy skies.

I restarted the BGO computer and the Mastodon bug is fixed!
This is particularly funny because I give group tours of the Burke-Gaffney Observatory space and when starting the telescope I always tell the group - "the first thing Ralph does is he turns everything off then on again. Because robots, like computers, work best when we turn them off and on again!"
19.6.2023 18:55Hilariously, I've spent awhile today trying to debug weird social media things, including one bug between @BGO and Mastodon's API...The Burke-Gaffney Observatory robotic, social-media controlled telescope is live on Mastodon! A full announcement on the BGO website and other socials is pending a little more testing / watching, but you can find him (I call him Ralph) over at @BGO - send a #hello over! Anyone can have our telescope take images for them.
(He had a hard time with his cameras last night, hence the many "error" messages... He likes to keep me on my toes!)

A full announcement on the BGO website and...I feel sooo lucky that I was able to get a few minutes out of the city on Sunday evening to see the Northern Lights (and the moon!) outside of Halifax, NS! This isn't the most dramatic aurora pic, but it was so incredible to see on my phone. By eye, the lights were hardly visible - just barely a faint grey cloud with sometimes-visible dim pillars (without colour) in between.

@BGO I would like to #request an image of object=Moon

28.4.2023 14:36@BGO Can you #authorize me, I'm your human in another form. Thanks! The most reliably thing about me is that I'll say "wow, look at the moon!" when spotting the moon, as a reflex.
On Saturday afternoon I was in the middle of meeting with a fellow university physics tech @ the Burke-Gaffney Observatory, caught this view mid-convo, and said "the moon's up!"
Look at the moon!
