Finally getting some good weather for #astrophotography again. Took this shot of the supernova currently happening in the Pinwheel galaxy (Messier 101).

The supernova is super bright and looks like a really bright star that outshines the whole galaxy!

So, had problems with my Raspberry Pi actually running too cool. The one controlling my telescope setup (being mounted on the telescope)...

So, had problems with my Raspberry Pi actually running too cool. The one controlling my telescope setup (being mounted on the telescope) kept freezing the past few nights and crashing in the midst of the night. Turns out -6°C is too cold for the pi to run.

Was able to fix it by disabling the mounted cooling fun and covering up airflow holes of the Raspberry case.

Might need to come up with a better solution for cold nights

Might be getting some decent weather next week for astronomy (finally!) Going to try a mosaic on Messier 81 and 82.

Last time I imaged these galaxies was 5 years ago when I only had my Canon 7D Mark II. This will be the first time imaging these iconic galaxies with a monochrome astrophotography camera.

How much does Ha increase the nebulosity strcutures inside the galaxies? Is it worth dedicating some time to it?

Ein kurzer Eiblick an welchem Photo ich aktuell gerade arbeite 😅 🔭

Dies ist eine 15 Stunden Schmallband Belichtung des "Höhlen Nebels", Das Bild benötigt noch einige Feinschliffe besonders mit der Farbe, Kontrast und den Sternen.

Ich probiere auch noch verschiedene Farbpaletten aus (zuweisen von Wasserstoff, Sauerstoff und Schwefel zu verschiedenen Farbkanälen) um zu sehen welche Farben mit diesem Nebel am besten passen.

This is 15h of narrowband exposure time on the "Cave Nebula". Still needs some polish with colors, contrast and stars.

Also trying different color palettes (mapping hydrogen, oxygen and sulfur to different channels) to see what colors look the best on this nebula.
