I'm hard at work on the big 3.0 update and hope to be able to share a testable copy with you all soon.

Sure doesn't look like much right now, but what you're looking at is an entirely new codebase for TLS Inspector, that is 100% swift - end to end.

At first, TLS Inspector was fully Objective-C, then we moved to a Swift-based UI and Objective-C backend.

Now finally comes the time to bid farewell to Objective-C and fully adopt Swift.

But why stop there? We're also moving to SwiftUI while we're at it, giving TLS Inspector's aging codebase a much-needed modernization.

Heads up! TLS Inspector 2.8.1 (coming tomorrow) will be the final update that supports iOS 12 to 14 (inclusive).

The next release of TLS Inspector will require iOS 15.6 or newer, which means that the following devices will no longer be supported: iPhone 5s, 6, 6 Plus, and iPad Air 1, Mini 2, Mini 3.

TLS Inspector will continue to function on unsupported devices, however as the device ages root certificates will eventually expire and this will generate trust errors.

We work hard to support legacy devices, however this has to be balanced with engineering effort as this support can come at a high cost.

Thanks for using TLS Inspector!

In the next update of TLS Inspector we're fixing an important accessibility issue: dynamic font sizes.

Currently font sizes are hard-coded throughout the app, mostly due to its age and availability of support, but now we're fixing this to normalize font sizes across the entire app & support dynamic sizes.

TLS Inspector 2.7.5 is available now!

Due to the complexity of supporting it, we're deprecating the legacy Apple network engine (based on SecureTransport). In the next major update, TLS Inspector will remove this engine entirely, and users will automatically be migrated to the modern Apple network engine (based on the Network framework). OpenSSL remains supported.

Nearly all iOS apps use the Network Framework (or the Apple APIs that abstract it), so we don't anticipate there being any negative impact from this change.

Also in this update:

• Show extra extensions on certificates. Supports strings, booleans, integers, and dates.
• Added warning about upcoming deprecation of legacy Apple network engine.
• Improved messaging for when a HTTPS proxy is enabled.
• Some very minor UI polish.
• Fixed a bug where a passenger door could come off unexpectedly.

TLS Inspector 2.7.3 has been submitted to Apple for review. We're updating to curl 8.4.0, and fixing a regression from iOS 17 with certificate expiry reminders.

Upon review of CVE-2023-38545 we don't believe that TLS Inspector is vulnerable. We have never supported proxies and in 2.5.2 we began to compile curl with proxy support removed.

@Wevah hey Nate, I hope you don't mind me asking but could you consider adding a security policy to IDNA-Cocoa? A quick policy that just explains how people can report vulnerabilities, what's in scope and isn't in scope, etc.

I'm happy to help, if you need it. I'd like to enforce a rule for TLS Inspector that all dependencies have policies.
