A Pocket Guide to Pigeon Watching: Getting to Know the World's Most Misunderstood Bird by Rosemary Mosco (So many hilarious and fascinating pigeon facts!)
The Lost Ryu by Emi Watanabe Cohen (I don't usually read middle-grade, but when I heard this book involved Jews in Japan with tiny companion dragons, I was like YES PLEASE. It turns out it's a powerful exploration of the effects of generational trauma from both the Holocaust and Japanese civilians' experiences in WWII.)
