Amsterdam! BuitenBios is back. This month, there will once again be an open-air cinema on the roof terrace of our Amsterdam studio building Tugela85. This year's guest curator is Marit van Dijk, researcher at the Reinwardt Academy. Due to her years of research into how we pass on nature (and how we don’t), the theme of these three film evenings is “Thinking with birds”.

You might know that Dom van der Laan also designed a typeface within the proportions of his Plastisch Getal.

He took his ideas to the extreme. However, practice is often recalcitrant, even in a committed environment. The welcome sign at the monastery's entrance, for instance, features typography all its own.

This was also a good time to revisit the Mariavall monastery in the south of Sweden, designed by Dom van der Laan, after 25 years. This monk has designed 3 monasteries. To arrive at his design, he developed the ‘Plastisch Getal’, his own system of measurement. Based on this, he designed not only the building, but also all the furniture. And to produce this furniture, he even designed his own forged nail. A fine example of taking an idea from concept to the smallest detail in execution.

Yesterday’s lecture at Grafill in Trondheim concluded our Space-Time tour of 7 lectures. Nice dimensional atmosphere! The afterparty was also nice with those who brought their favourite writing instrument. Thanks Grafill, thanks Marte, thanks Trondheim! Met so many nice new and old friends on this tour, and visited lots of other locations on the road. This trip can only be put in the right dimension on a Norwegian mountain top.
