I reached a wall that seems impossible to jump over, so I was banging my head on it hoping I will break trough.

So I took a break, about a week, played Quake 2 to take my mind off my project.

After a week I came back, solved the issue and did even more than I planned.

Feels good man.

I've been thinking... Have I gone from tech enthusiast to tech nihilist?

Forcing cloud, always online, subscription models have taken most of technology away from user and tied it to a company with umbilical cord.

Company can change pricing (Adobe), TOS (Unity), have server crash (Sony), or use your personal or professional data to push you out of market few years in the future.

I love offline, I love penguin and FOSS. It makes me love tech again.

Made my own backup system. sh script will rsync my project files to 2 different folders on 2 different disks. Each date generates another subfolder, each subfolder has sh script to restore code to original location.

Once I reach milestone I burn it to DVD. I walk the path of our offline ancestors.
