Yes, I definitely used the correct TWRP release for this device.

No, I did not update shit before it stopped working.

The only explanation I can think of is that beforehand it was left on and forgotten about for a while. The battery would have died quite quickly. It's possible it was in some sort of deep discharge state where the system would refuse to boot. Though this obviously wouldn't explain why it *did* initially reach the bootloader.

My moto g5 plus stopped booting all of a sudden. Just dies at the bootloader with a 'failed to load kernel' error. And no, I couldn't boot into recovery either.

Weird, but the bootloader still works, so I try to run `fastboot boot twrp.img` and I get the beautiful TWRP splash screen.. And then nothing. Just hangs.

Ffs, I guess I'll reboot the phone and try again.

Nope, can't reboot. No bootloader. Hard bricked. FML.

So I came across something called #Trussed which aims to provide a FOSS alternative to the previously used #JavaCard. And it seems to already have applets (or equivalent) for all the features I would like to see.

But the real reason for this post.. mobile shells. Sorry, but I've never liked plasma. And phosh is cool and all, but what I'm really interested in is #gnomeonmobile. I've just built myself a #manjaroarm image with gnome shell for mobile. Sure, it's very rough around the edges, but looks promising.

Any #gnome devs here? I want to get involved - be it testing or even shell development, but I wouldn't know where to start.
