I think this Yellow-crowned Night-Heron that appeared on Plum Island earlier this week qualifies. The white feathers streaming out behind the head mark its breeding plumage.

This one is a male, which are seen much less often at least on Plum Island, #massachusetts. The males are known to #birding enthusiasts as "grey ghosts", suiting their color, infrequency, and overall appearance.

Shoot first, ask ID questions later. This sometimes yields more Mallards and Canada Geese than I feel the need to collect, but also catches nice views like this Green-winged Teal preparing to land (to water?) in #massachusetts on a winter day
