It may be worth mentioning that the old box has had new memory, storage, battery and keyboard. I was able to buy a low-spec machine and improve it as needed with available tech, and it works just fine even now. None of those would be an easy switch on the new box.

I’m changing now so that I can keep some tools — I need to be on a more up-to-date OS, which will kill some software, so the old machine will still be in use.

One of these has been my daily machine since April 2013. Will the other will still be with me in 2033?
