My opinion on GOTY:

Elden Ring SoTE is absolutely large and substantial enough to be nominated on its own merits.

However, it is not as polished as the base game - there are numerous times where I would explore the edges of the map/area only to be disappointed to find nothing, where the base game would reward you for scouring every inch of the map.

I was also disappointed that there were no additional endings added.

While there was significant gameplay, serious bosses, and the balancing was well thought out, it didn’t seem “complete” when compared with the base game.

Balatro is an amazing addictive game with immense replayability, great audio and visual design with a dedicated development team(?). I’ve put over 100 hours into this game and I’m sure it won’t stop soon.

Astro Bot is the clear winner in my eyes - the sheer joy I had playing it by myself and with my son has not been matched in many years of gaming. It’s like they unearthed some ancient magic that had been long dead. The soundtrack is full of bangers that run through my head constantly.

It’s so clear that every pixel of the game was painstakingly designed and chosen to be the best it can be, and to deliver the most joy to PS die hards and people who’ve only ever owned a PS5 alike.

I truly hope that Sony doesn’t ruin what they’ve got, and that ASOBI can maintain the magic with their next project.

Technology is so often inaccessible to people who rely on it.

Everybody relies on technology, there aren't ways around it in the modern world.

If somebody as privileged as I am (white, techbrain, decent money, reliable family, reliable job, loving partner) can be thinking about killing myself because (among other things):

- the person doing my home loan application made some inscrutable errors that confused me
- the process required to get a joint divorce is extremely obtuse and difficult to parse (not to mention, >$1k)
- Microsoft Office went into read only mode while trying to complete forms, despite my account definitely having a valid subscription
- `loginwindow` crashed out of nowhere and lost _everything_ I was working on
- lockdown mode prevents custom fonts from loading, rendering many many many websites next to impossible to understand because their glyphs are missing
- no matter how much effort you put in, your deadname will **always** pop up somewhere, even when the company legitimately cares about getting it right

How can we expect people who are less privileged in numerous ways to survive in this world?

Sure, maybe I'm just precious, or maybe there's something terribly wrong with the systems and processes we use every day, and that people literally struggle with this stuff over and over again until they see no other way out

I'm okay, time for zzz 😴
