Looking for recommendations for a basic #screenrecorder for #Ubuntu desktop. For now I just need the screen and the sound playing in the browser captured. I don’t need my face to show in a little circle, though that feature is appreciated.

On Friday which is typically a payday for weekly wages workers, there was some kind of outage that prevented #HomePay (from Care[dot]com) from paying out salaries to domestic workers like nannies, maids, babysitters, etc. They subsequently had a message on their website login screen, but for most of the day for many there was no clarity on when the funds would be dispersed to the workers. Customer care had long wait times due to this issue too. Since funds are typically collected on the Wednesday before, it was already gone from the families accounts who employed them. They eventually sent out communication indicating the delayed payroll would be paid out on Monday.

I’m surprised with such a major payroll platform having a payout outage and there was no news coverage I could find on the subject. I’m really interested in understanding what was the technical issues causing this problem. Also what banking service is HomePay using?

Is it a good idea to backup your Authenticator app like Microsoft Authenticator? Or is it a security concern?

Context: I need to switch phones and I would like to avoid manually switching my 2FA to the other phone.

(I’m not looking for advise on the best 2FA physical token or app, I’m only looking for advise on if backing up for subsequently restoring the Authenticator app has any security concerns while switching phones)

I have to scroll back up to continue reading what I was before being interrupted. Then it happens again. I’m suspecting this is possibly because some of the posts with links render a preview and causes all posts under it to realign vertically. Is this a known issue? Personal story to the above ^^^ post. I know my mother back in India used a brand of talcum powder called “shower to shower” for feminine hygiene. It was also manufactured by #johnson&johnson. She died in 2015 after her second battle with cancer. Every time this #evil corporation is in the news for baby powder / feminine hygiene / ovarian #cancer I feel a sense of loss and wonder if my mom and my family (who didn’t have the same cancer as the women in the class action) suffered because of them?
