I've recently started using #resistbot -- and here's a really good one to sign and send to your Senators and Representatives. I like that this chatbot makes it easy for me to send paper letters, faxes, & emails to my (R) Senators. They may not be aligned with me but they need to hear public opinion.

Awesome Lyft driver Anthony (a Southwest flight attendant!) picks me up at dawn in S&S’s idyllic Owings Mills neighborhood. The flights go smoothly (thank you, Southwest!), and I touch down in Austin at 11:30am, roughly 12 hours later than my original plans.

That’s the story. Huge thanks to my awesome friends, especially Scott and Sharon, who not only hosted me but also our friend Kevin on Monday night after he got to his own successful Southwest Plan C on his way to Nashville.

I chat for a bit with S&S and schedule a pre-dawn Lyft. Winding down in their guest room, I'm wired and can’t get to sleep. I read my book and start to nod off, but at 11:30 my phone buzzes again (noooo!): flight to Detroit canceled.

Plan D! Rebooking options look bad, but I remember BWI is a Southwest hub. Sure enough, I can book a 7:30am through Houston. New plan in place, I try to reach Delta about other options but give up. I rebook the Lyft for an hour later and finally get to sleep.

Torrential downpour starts as I walk into PHL, which is very quiet! I quickly get through security and then phone buzzes again – American has canceled the flight. Okay!! Time for Plan C (from Baltimore). Luckily my generous Baltimorean friends Scott and Sharon have offered to let me crash in their guest bedroom for the night. I grab a taxi to the train station and jump on the Acela from Philly to Baltimore (ooh – fast train!). S&S already having dinner near the station, so they pick me up.

Limited rebooking options are > 1 day out. I get creative & book an AA 7pm direct from Philly. Then I try to book a train there from NYC (#Amtrak – do better on mobile!), but the only option sells out. Rental cars are crazy expensive, so I call a Lyft (pricey, but less so) and head out.

As we leave Manhattan, my friend Gary texts: storms headed for Philly, so Plan B may not work. Anxious to be home, I create Plan C: Delta 6am from Baltimore through Detroit for Monday morning. We drive on.
