Hello,

This is a reminder that I stopped using social media platforms like Twitter and Fediverse.

Don't expect me to return or use another platform similar to them.

If you wish to reach out to me, my contact details are available on yukiisbo.red.

Thanks,
Yuki

I just published a new article:

"Spice up with Nix: The Functional Software Deployment Model"

In this adventure, we'll take a deep dive into the inner workings of Nix and see for ourselves how its radical ideas are able to solve the issues present in the traditional approaches in software deployment.

Hello users,

I just submitted games/blockgame 0.6.14 to ports@.

marc.info/?l=openbsd-ports&m=1

Now you can use your Microsoft / Xbox account (even with Xbox Game Pass) to satisfy your Minecraft needs.

Have fun,
Yuki

Am I back to Mastodon/Fediverse? No.

I hate social media and I wouldn't want to go back.

Hello world,

Yes, I'm still alive.

With all of the personal/work/uni stuff mostly taken care of, I have more free time to work on the "MultiMC" port for OpenBSD (now called Blockgame because of their "branding" for custom builds policy).

Microsoft account and Xbox Game Pass support is coming soon (it's working as you can see there).

After a relatively painful backport of my patches to the new version, all that's left is the great debranding along with some more OpenBSD support patching (for stuff like DesktopServices, etc).

Too much negativity in the Fediverse recently.

I'm gonna log off for a while I guess.

See ya o/

Micronaut has "support" libraries for a lot of common stuff (Jedis, Hikari, etc) with hints/patches already in place to make it work nicely with GraalVM.

For example: github.com/micronaut-projects/

One of the things that I don't see often when it comes to using GraalVM to compile Java apps to native binaries is the fact that a lot of stuff "don't work out of the box".

For example, any form of dynamic dispatch / runtime polymorphism will fail so stuff like log4j, jdbc, etc will fail.

You need to give hint to the AoT compiler on how to handle some classes so it'll be resolved on compile.

So, next time when you're making a new web project targeting GraalVM. It's a good idea to use something that's rather complete and has GraalVM support as a main feature, like Micronaut or Quarkus.

I can't stop grinning at this line:

"This network reachability information includes information on the list of Autonomous Systems (ASes) that reachability information traverses."

Really shows the type of language specs are written in to be able to convey technical information effectively.

I really should start publishing the stuff I've written for university colleagues to the public.

Never had the time for it.

Also, in case someone is worried, this is not because I need to configure a Cisco router for work / it's going to run in production.

I'm just learning computer networking, that's all.

I really don't get it but it seems a considerable amount of people forget that most free and open source software are VOLUNTARILY made and maintained.
