I've been working my way through Adrej Karpathy's educational youtube series on neural nets and it is excellent. It is fun to code along and to pause the video and spend time digging into the libraries to see how the math relates to what I learned in Andrew Ng's Coursera course.

What would you do if you where just getting started learning machine learning/ai? I am thinking I will enter one of the starter Kaggle competitions and also find a course that is more python focused. I found this list of resources that seems pretty legit: https://botdevs.ai/articles/technical-courses-books-and-tutorials-on-artificial-intelligence-deep-learning-and-machine-learning-for-ai-developers

After about a month of after-the-kids-go-to-bed learning/coding sessions I have completed Andrew Ng's Machine learning Course on Coursera. I have also cleared my backlog of stats/calc/linear algebra flash cards.

8.1.2024 02:55Anyone else busy coding up their harebrained GPT ideas for the impending launch of the #openai store? My plan for what to do next is:
- Take another course more related to python ML tools (pyTorch)?
- Enter some Kaggle competitions to write some actual real code.
- Other ideas:
- try to read the landmark papers?
- read some textbooks (e.g. Deep Learning Goodfellow/Bengio/Courville)?
Here's what I'm doing first:
- Kahn Academy Math: I have been brushing up on my math / learning it for the first time (Remember, I have a history degree 📚 not anything to do with math/science/engineering). I have been working through the calc, linear algebra, and stats courses
- Andrew Ng's Machine Learning Course: I have been watching the videos and working through the programming exercises for Andrew Ng's Machine Learning Course on Coursera

I have degrees in history and urban planning and worked as an urban planner for years before transitioning to programming. I have been working as a programmer for a few years mostly in backend web development, geospatial, and data engineering.
