Fascist imperialist country doubles down. Hard.
I had a feeling they had blown it by leaning in to the genocide, but didn't think the margin would be this big.

30.7.2024 00:06The #WhiteDudes4Harris call raised over $1M before the call even startedThere are a few exceptions, but it's true: white folks are in steadfast denial about not just where this place is headed, but where it is right now. I've tried to engage friends and family so many times in so many different ways over the years, and mostly I've learned that it's a great way to get people to talk to you less.
Like they have a budget for how much negativity they can handle in a given day, and it's not even enough to fully perceive reality at this point.

Denver is giving them apartments, food, utilities, computers, cell phones, and transit passes for that time... and it's costing half what they thought it would.

I love riding them, working on them, ogling them and talking about them. Did volunteer and advocacy work for years; even designed a few bike lanes that are still in place in Austin.
So I've always known I'd have a great time in Copenhagen, but holy shit, the tranquility of it all. You can be surrounded by hundreds of people in rush hour, and it might be nearly silent. Merging, passing waiting peacefully.

I fully transitioned back to Firefox a while back, at first for performance reasons. Now that I've got robust ad blocking on my computers and *phone* I am never letting it go.

Instead, we get to choose which communities we want to be part of, and we can control what content we're exposed to. In some ways this new place is already more valuable than the old one.
Now we're watching the flood of new folks show up in the local feed, and the instance continues to be snappy as hell. So thanks, @nova, for letting us all hang out here.

Not too long ago, my org lost our best admin. It was entirely preventable. Predictably, shit hit the fan almost immediately. We're now over three weeks into an outage affecting most of Ceph's upstream infrastructure.
Hopefully very few people need to hear this, but: mind your bus factors, folks. #burnout comes for us all.
