Our credit score dropped from 819 to 814. The reason given? We are carrying less debt, and we have a higher credit limit than before. So... credit scores incentivizes debt.

Of course at some point having too much debt will also lower your score.

If surgery delays were like flying. On Friday your surgery (flight) is scheduled for 9 am Monday. Please arrive 2 hours early for check-in and prep.

On Sunday, Mother Nature dumps 15 inches of snow into 20-30 mph winds and virtually shuts down the city.

Sunday at 5 pm you get a call canceling your surgery. The flight is delayed, we have no idea when it'll happen.

On Monday you get another call asking if you can do the surgery on Wednesday. After you say yes, you are told that scheduling will call with the precise time sometime Tuesday afternoon. We've booked you on another flight; the plane is here, but there's no crew to fly it.

On Tuesday the hospital calls and says arrive at noon, surgery at 2:15 pm. Oh, and nothing to eat after midnight, and only clear fluids until 10 am. The flight crew is on the way, but all the food vendors in the airport are closed until after you leave.

Thank you for flying Surgery Airways.

A quandary.

After a long wait, I am finally having knee replacement surgery. My right knee has deteriorated rapidly in the last couple of months, and I am mentally prepared for the surgery, _and_ the physical therapy that follows. This all happens in two days time, on Monday.

Starting today, and lasting until 12:01 am Monday we are having a major winter storm. Some models predict close to 2 feet of snow, and winds of 40-50 miles per hour. A true blizzard.

I love a good snow storm. The kid in me delights in the idea of 2 (TWO!) feet of snow.

But I also want to be able to get to the surgery center Monday morning, and for the roads to be clear enough for my wife to get home safely at the end of the day. And to be able to return to pick me up on Tuesday.

Hopefully the storm does abate by late Sunday evening, allowing the city road crews to clear the streets.

The best part about iOS's "Silence Unknown Callers" is never having my phone ring for unwanted crap.

The worst part about that feature is when my doctor's office calls from a different extension every time, so that I only get a voice mail. I could keep adding additional numbers to their card in my contact list, but that feels a bit like whack-a-mole.

Completely unrelated: tomorrow I need to pay attention to my phone as I missed a call, and called back, only to leave a message.
