Also I have no idea what Hunger/Death will be doing this arc if they have any relevance whatsoever. They feel a little out-of-touch with the themes of justice, guilt, and morality tho. It might've just been a cameo but from how fujimoto writes things I have a feeling they're actually way more important to this arc than we think and it's just too early to understand the connections but w/e.

I'm just so interested in the direction that they're gonna take things. I fucking love stories where like, the villainous character becomes more human and empathetic, while the good guy becomes more fucked up and villainous, until they either meet in the middle or flip roles. Asa feels like a direct foil to Denji in that she hasn't really fully experienced life at this point either and I wanna see her reflect a dark path he could've taken.

Meanwhile we have Denji as the pseudo-protagonist.

It pisses me off when people say denji doesn't care about saving others when he obviously does, he killed his brother to stop him from hurting other people. So I think we'll see denji come to grips with the nuances of this later.

We also haven't seen Nayuta at all, but from Yogen no Nayuta I'd guess her learning right from wrong will play a big role this part.

Notably there's a scene where Yoru calls Asa out and says she knows that the only real thing Asa didn't like was the guilt of being *seen* killing bucky. The classic moral philosophy question of "do we do good things, just to seem like we're good to others".

I'm so fucking excited for this next chapter or two because it's probably going to reveal whether Asa's answer to this is yes or no. It will direct the rest of her entire arc.

This makes Yuko a lot more interesting because I wouldn't be surprised of "using violent and amoral methods for your goals" is something that eventually Asa adopts herself. It just feels like the natural trajectory of her character arc.

Also interesting that Yoru's power is way weaker when she uses it: the power of her weapons are proportional to the guilt of creating it, and Yoru doesn't really care about much of anything the way Asa does.

In a way she's the inverse of Yoru who ultimately doesn't care about anything. War is an interesting concept to put at the crux of the story, because war is both a tool for some end, but also a senseless waste of life. Yoru acts just to get her favorite weapons back from chainsaw man, and her powers allow you to sacrifice things you own for power towards your own ends.

I'm theorizing that as the series goes on, Yoru and Asa may start to switch roles somewhat.

Asa's revelation at the end of the first chapter is that ultimately she was too stuck to the rules, and that made her bitter and miserable to everyone else. She wish she lived life a little more selfishly and got some happiness instead of caring so much about how things "should be", like whether the houses people live in have been built legally or not.

The justice devil is clearly going to be a major figure in the story since they've been mentioned by name multiple times now. Denji himself has become a superhero (a symbol of justice) and that has likely led to the fear of justice increasing overall and thus the appearance of the justice devil into the story in the first place.

Had a talk tonight with a friend about #chainsawman part 2 and I'm so excited to see where it goes, because you can pretty definitively nail the first part's central theme being "dreams". Denji's a kid who had absolutely nothing, not even able to dream for a better life, and the ultimate resolution is bringing the control devil's dream to reality.

From what we've seen I think part 2's theme is morality, guilt, and selfishness.

I feel bad for anyone following me i legit mostly just look up my current fixations and boost everything i can find.
