I’m back from an awesome GRS/GRC. I feel sad about my progress compared to others, but I also felt very validated that what I was trying to do was hard. Made a lot of great connections with other students/postdocs/faculty, and I hope that in the future I can work with them or collaborate in some way. Everyone was so brilliant, and their willingness to give top tier advice was also reassuring.

I learned how much I didn’t know, and somehow I feel much more motivated in my own research?

I also will have more to say on this probably in a while since I haven’t signed on the dotted line yet, but I’m happy to say that I’ve accepted an internship for this summer at a local biotech company!!! I’m super excited for it, and I think I am a good fit with them. Luckily, the position is through a new internship program here at the university, so I get to stay as a ”student” and keep my benefits for the summer, *and* its a mile down the road from where I live.

Just had an interview for an internship today. Not sure I did well in the interview, but the more I’ve looked into this company, the more I feel like I genuinely would be a decent fit for it. A while back a pharma company came by to UW to recruit and I felt like I wouldn’t fit in. I think I’ve found a field I may be able to work in the future, which is nice to see. And something that I’m interested in, health/drug related, can hopefully make a difference in people’s lives, etc.

On a whim decided to go to an orchestra concert tonight after someone messaged me about it. I wanted to make more of an effort to see university ensembles, but I haven’t done so well so far on that effort.

The arts make me happy, and sometimes I wish I could make more time to be a better musician and audition for “better” ensembles. Performing is so much fun. 🎶
