The reason it looked familiar, I twigged, was because it was the entrance to the station when I lived in Stratford in the mid 1990s, before hundreds of millions of pounds were poured into the area for the Olympics. I checked the internet and found this photo of it in happier times (and in much better nick than when I lived there in the 90s!)

It looked a bit familiar, so I took some photos at lunchtime from the bridge that links the older part of Stratford with the fancy new (hellish) Westfield.
