You know that gesture (at least in most of North America, to my knowledge) where you tap the side of your nose to say "yes, exactly"?
Why don't we have an emoji for that?

It was just warm enough to be fairly comfortable, and foggy, which is nice. Got tired far too quickly. Must do this more.

Pick the length shield, buzz buzz, leave just a bit a little longer at the front so that there's *something*, done. Most of my life, I'd checked my hair in any mirror I passed. From a Buddhist angle, I wanted to get rid of the attachment, no longer care what my hair looked like--it wasn't a necessary part of me being happy.
It worked decently well. I saved a lot of money for years. Maintaining it was a breeze--barely any shampoo, quick tousle when I get out of the shower to be dry, no styling product, no brush, no comb, never hat-head, never wind-blown, never had to think about it except monthly to trim again. This has worked for about ten years.
For a couple of weeks, it's been past time to do it. And I'd been thinking of going shorter this time, lose the little *something* up front, simplify. I'd had a number 4 shield on the trimmer, couldn't find the number 3 in the drawer, so dove in with the number 2.
Oh. My. 😬
I don't think I'd realized how much my hair was thinning. Not so much at the sides, but now the top is mostly scalp. Combined with my grey, I look like I just aged fifteen years in half an hour. My look just went from "shortish, deliberately unkempt style" to "rapidly balding and trying to hold onto the last scraps".
Additionally, I just went from "released from thinking about his hair, doesn't care how it looks" to "gonna be thinking about his hair pretty much constantly for at least a few weeks".
I am not happy. 😐

ADHD made this ten minute job take weeks. The old plastic bolts were too stuck to remove, so eventually I had to go in with a hacksaw blade and cut them off. It required kneeling and bending and awkwardness and pain, but I did it.
Eventually, one happy day, there will come some job around the house which can be done while I'm just sitting comfortably. And there will be much rejoicing. Until that day, there will be much wailing and gnashing of teeth. And swearing, lots of swearing.

It seems that everyone but my wife and I seem to use that term for a distinctly different thing. Wife says, "oh, if they're on buns, they're modern 'influencer' funeral sandwiches, and it's cheating".

My wife calls them "funeral sandwiches".
If you can even find a place that does any such thing anymore, either it's all ciabatta and crap, or it's nothing but egg salad and ham.
Can't seem to get decent funeral sandwiches anymore. Outside of making friends with a church auxilliary who does their own, is there anywhere you can still get that?

There are now just *so many* apps, websites, products, companies that I will not longer employ. Union busting, bad data practices, AI scraping, doesn't work on my hardware, or at this moment, even "is an American company" might be enough.
Problem is, sometimes I can't remember the reason. "Hmm. Why is it I stopped using this app years ago? It might be just what I need now, but I know there was *some* reason..."

For those into #photography--as a pastime, for interest, not necessarily professionally--is there a camera you might recommend as a truly budget-friendly, basic digital SLR?
All I'm looking for is to take it with me on walks or holiday, so that I take photos with it instead of with my phone, am more mindful in my photo-taking, and by walking around with it in my hand or around my neck instead of just within the phone in my pocket, I might be paying more attention to what is visually interesting that I might wish to capture, or even sometimes go out with the *intention* of taking photos.
Budget-friendly, basic digital SLR recc's? I'm not completely new to photography, but I'm not that experienced, either. Some creativity options and also some automatic modes would be nice.
Thanks.
