Watching a video on the new third-party keyboard support for #KompleteKontrol. I can already say this is not going to be great for most fully #blind #musicians mostly because actually browsing through your entire KK library is not supported. You can browse through presets once an instrument is loaded, you can usually modify plugin parameters although that isn't always the case for some Kontakt instruments apparently, you CAN do a search and move through the seaerch resuls though, so provided you can do accessibly do a search that hacks around that issue. The main thing I'm not sure about is, amusingly, if you can toggle #accessibility support. I'm leaning towards probably not, so you'd need Bobby from down the block to hook up their KK keyboard and turn it on for you but after that I do think it may actually talk if you use a 3rd-party controller :)

It's fascinating how even within the #accessibility community, some people feel the need to bet on blatant apologism and chastise people for taking a contrary opinion to dev teams, responding to said opinions almost like they were personal attacks. The answer to user frustration is calling users stupid for not knowing how things work in dev teams and how dare they have unrealistic expectations born from being ignored for decades and finally hoping for a change.
Personally I think there's a place for both extremes, but watching people stuck in their own beliefs get mad at other people stuck in their own beliefs where this is concerned always seems ... interesting.

#blind #mac #voiceOver users, I'm working on a #stream idea to essentially set up a mac from scratch for efficiency/productivity for a blind power user and am gathering tricks, tools and techniques to include in said stream. I know about the obvious like VOCR, Hammerspoon, launchers like raycast/alfred, specialized apps like Drafts/Logic/Vmware Fusion/BBEdit/VS Code, even more specialized stuff like RCMD, Vollama and Shortcat, maybe some Rogue Amoeba stuff. I will also mention VoiceOver features like hotspots, item chooser, fastSearch and activities. Is there anything major I am missing? @FreakyFwoof @pitermach

The so-called "new" version ofOutlook has been "signing into "x@y.com"" and "getting things ready" pretty much the entire afternoon. The account is a Microsoft 365 account.
Meanwhile, the "classic" version of Outlook signed into it in 10 seconds.
I'm not saying the new app sucks and probably wasn't ready for release, but ehh ... how does this happen? :) I'm not invoking ye olde gettius-offius-mah-lawnius incantation here but there might be something to that whole "if it ain't broke" thing now and then :P

A lot of #accessibility issues are easy to visualize: a missing ramp in front of a building, bad contrast, missing captions etc. but #screenReader accessibility is a lot more nebulous because there's actually not that much reading of the screen happening. I can't "point" at a screen reader accessibility issue because it happens behind the curtain, in the land of metadata, APIs and standards, rarely on the actual screen, which also makes it more difficult to "visualize" for devs. hrmm.

If you want to #AI all over the place be my guest but just like you wouldn't just send random attachments to random companies, you probably shouldn't be discussing NDA-covered stuff with a chatbot either or at the very least make sure the damn thing is running within the company network and not the open internet?

Like ... could I use this as a poor man's MIDI input to, say, QWS, and have it work? I know it can control Ableton Live but I don't think you can send notes outright to a DAW can you? @FreakyFwoof
