I also want to give a huge shoutout to https://www.chronotrains.com/ which I only discovered more than a week into our travels.

It allows you to see exactly where you can go by train from a specific city, within a given time limit, and also allows you to add filters for direct connections.

For someone like me, who is traveling without a set goal, it's been absolutely amazing. I can go wherever the sun shines.

This is definitely a tool I will make even more use of the next interrail trip I do.

I have been traveling through Europe with interrail for the almost 3 weeks at this point, and just wanted to take the opportunity to appreciate how amazing the EU and Schengen is.

My travels have taken me through 10 countries so far (excluding my home country of Sweden), and no matter where I go I feel at home.

Being able to travel so far with only your national ID card, and with mobile data roaming everywhere, is simply amazing. Everything is so simple and effortless.

When my manager stated that our Slack might be going down if we cannot pay for it, and people started sharing their socials to keep in touch, it just felt so unbelievably sad.

2024 is gonna be the year I actually try to finish up stuff.

I have already finished 2 games that I thought I would never get back to (Mario + Rabbids and Fire Emblem: Three Houses), with hopefully more to come.

In addition, I will try to finally get an album released later this year (it's been pending for like... 3 years), and finish the huge ass refactoring I started in the compiler project end of last year 🤞

Hot take: auto completion of "end tokens" (end braces, quotes, etc) is the worst "convenience" function for programming offered by editors.

I constantly find myself fighting it by having to remove automatically inserted braces or quotes.

Maybe I am just doing something wrong.

What completely ruins the game, however, is the *extremely* inconsistent frame pacing and occasional drops in FPS. I mean, come on. One look at this GIF should tell you everything. And this can be felt not only in the cut scenes, but also while moving through the stages.

And that was all of the games.

Please look at this, and tell me that this is aesthetically pleasing. The GIF is deliberately slowed down by 50% to really showcase what is happening.

Not only is there no smooth transition, but rather the screen turns completely white in an instant. No transition. And not only that, there is some kind of bug where we can see Penny from a different angle for like 1 frame before the game cuts back to white again.

What made me close the game after a few seconds, however, was not the low FPS and sluggish feeling. It was the transitions (or lack thereof).

Not only this. Even when this does not happen, the text boxes themselves move back and forth by a few pixels every now and then, as if there were rounding errors. And finally, the text is not centered inside of the text boxes. I get that this might be difficult with the playful style the game is going for, but Paper Mario managed way better.

All in all, this was distracting to the point where I could not even focus on the actual text.
