I accidentally blocked my desktop from accessing #HomeAssistant by entering the password incorrectly 3 times. Quickly, found the solution on the internet. If you fail 3 login attempts, the IP address goes on a blocklist. That's a safety feature I like.

For myself, social media should be something I glance at for 15 minutes and not be glued to hours on end, which Twitter had become due to inducing rage. I want to live in the real world and not be glued to a screen hours on end - I have other things to do. The nice thing about Mastodon, Bluesky and Threads is that they are new enough and not had a chance to become a cesspool. I hope it stays that way. I would like to see more breaking news events though as Twitter used to in the earlier days.

The speculation is that Elon & Co are fearing that ex-employees may indulge in sabotage.

I love the concept of #mastodon, federated servers with rules - it seems self governing.

I now realise how algorithms in the wrong hands can cause confrontation for the purpose of engagement.

The original concept Jack Dorsey had in mind morphed into something he had not envisaged.

I do believe in free speech, but not at the expense of human dignity and not when it is deemed offensive.

I am looking forward to informative/pleasant conversation and banter.
