Had a blast with Droneboy in combination with my retro handheld. The limited input possibilities of the GameBoy make the chord page a bit weird at first, but it's super nice if you get the hang of it.

I'll be playing a modular synth live set (and Visuals) on the 12th of April. It's an event at Modularfield Label, celebrating record store day and opening the photography exhibition "Who needs context anyway?" of my good friend Boris.

Vernissage starts at 4pm, my performance will start at 8pm.

The fun thing is: I really wanted to build a tracker like interface, but I never really use it that way. Thats mostly because I used this in combination with #eurorack step sequencers: If I would have had a step by step mode inside midiTracker it would have been hard to sync the external sequencers.

Now I rely less and less on those external sequencers, or I let them run free – so it might be time to add some forward/backward stepping mechanic for editing and pre-listening to the sequences.

I just hate my experience with raspberry pi’s on some days. I’m not fluent enough in “Linux” and just break things by googling my way around it.

I recently enabled write protection for /boot/ (and successfully brought everything back to normal) which might have fucked stuff up.

In rarely had any issues using https://github.com/gethiox/HIDI but tonight I just cloud not make it talk to my midi device. But all other programs could talk to it well.

Then I noticed weird file permissions (could have been myself in the past). I made it so bad that nothing worked.

After re-installing the program in its newest version IT WORKED ONE SINGLE TIME - I was able to send out notes to the modular!?!

Right after restarting - everything is gone again.

I’m so pissed - a whole evening gone.

(99% sure it’s me not the tool)
